SPOTLIGHT

West Papuan Youth Project

One of Walanbaa’s most successful projects was the ‘The West Papuan Youth Project’ which brought together West Papuan and Indigenous youth to engage in a week-long program. The project was a part of a vision to empower First Nation peoples from around the globe, starting with their local community. This experience empowered the youth participants to gain a deeper understanding of each other as well as strengthening their own identity, self-worth and sense of belonging, through the exploration of culture, story, music, dance, ceremony, sound production and videography.
